Wrangler Hoops in Gillette

The Wranglers spent the weekend in Gillette at the Loren Larson Tournament. This tourney is the largest in the area and a great primer for the upcoming tournaments in Rapid City and Spearfish.

The Wranglers finished the weekend 1-2

The team didn’t get the start it expected in the 8 am slot Saturday morning against a familiar Sheridan team. Though the effort was solid the ball just didn’t find the bottom of the net. The frustration was evident across the board and shot after shot kicked off the iron.

The evening game revealed a much deeper desire to compete and the boys battled on defense. Their effort and hustle set a new bar for what they should expect from themselves and they were quite proud despite coming up short at the final buzzer.

The final game on Sunday was a runaway from the opening tip. The energy was high, the effort even higher, and they played well together. The ball moved around the perimeter quickly often catching the defense out of position and the Wranglers were quick to cash in on the opportunity. The Wranglers won easily with everyone on the team getting significant playing time.

The Wranglers head to Rapid City in three weeks to test their skills against some of the stiffest competition in the region.

The people behind the scenes

A big thank you to Blacktooth Financial Inc and Preuit Ag Services LLC for their financial support this season. Their sponsorships help cover the costs this season. The team greatly appreciates it.
